yogoberri || yogurt orgasm

6070 Yonge Street, Toronto

Yogoberri is located at the heart of Yonge and Finch, I would call it Koreans' favorite area to hang around in uptown North York/Toronto. The way Yogoberri is designed - large tables, a coffee area, etc., it welcomes all ages, from teenagers to middle-aged adults. The owners there are always so friendly and the store is always so well-kept. Not to mention, I really like their washrooms HAHA. I just love their designs inside!!

I highly recommend: Green Tea Yogurt at EXTRA LARGE, you will need it because your brain & tongue will ask for more, I guarantee IT! The yogurt is so light and not filling at all. To y'all girls out there, who are really anal about your weight, trust me on this one, you can eat 10 of these and you will not gain a pound. I ate two large ones the first time I discovered this place. Oh heavens, while writing this entry, I am craving for one right now. May I also recommend the top 3 toppings of my choice for this yogurt: strawberry, red bean and chocolate chips. Note: strawberries can be sour at times.

When I took this yogurt (refer to my picture above) back to my table, there were two girls who looked at it and it made them wanted to order one too, it is THAT GOOD. If you don't believe me, you will have to try one yourself! I also recommend the cakes they have there, last time when it was my mother's birthday, I bought a green tea cake, so yummers it was! Oh! I forgot to mention, Yogoberri does not only serve yogurt and cakes, they also have coffee, bubble tea and waffles. Do give them a try. But I would eat the yogurt first before anything to be honest. *DROOLS*

Tired of eating that sad, piece of toast every morning? Come to O&B's (Oliver & Bonacini) Canteen. They offer light, fresh and simple lunch menus. Unlike the regular Oliver & Bonacini, you will find mini pastries and sweet goodies at their canteen. I am personally a HUGE HUGE fan of French Onion soup, so when I first saw that on the menu, I HAD TO try one (I do that for every restaurant that offers this soup lol).  I was not disappointed at all. Firstly, the presentation of the soup is so so cute. The soup itself was placed inside a mini orange pot - I wanted to take it home with me!!! Second of all, when it comes to french onion soup, it is utmost important that the soup has to be really HOT. I drank french onion soup from other restaurants and what is a major turn off to my taste buds is when the cheese inside is NOT MELTED. O & B's french onion soup was done to perfection. I had no complaints all. Two thumbs up.

My caesar salad was okay, nothing special because it did not tickle my tongue. My boyfriend ordered a beef burger, the cheese/mushrooms/onions inside smelled reallllly good but it really needed sauce. My boyfriend's verdict: "The bun and the burger was a bit crummy and dry". I cannot give my verdict because as some of my friends may know it, I have skin allergies with red meat (most of the time). However, I really like the fries, it tasted different (a pinch of sweetness), I am guessing they might have cooked it with a different type of oil? Je ne sais pas =D.

service || good, nothing special

food || for canteen food, O & B went beyond that

price || $15-20 per person

decor || nothing close to looking like a bland & dirty school canteen. LOVE the white/brown theme going on in there. Looks very welcoming, clean and cozy.

tomo sushi || one-of-a-kind rolls

9625 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON

It is not always easy to find a decent à la carte Japanese restaurant uptown Toronto as the Richmond Hill and Markham area are mostly known for the many all-you-can-eat sushi places. I recently discovered Tomo Sushi, located in the heart of Yonge Street. I have actually been to Tomo quite a few times now and have never been disappointed with their service. Food wise, I wouldn't say it is the best but it always leaves me quite satisfied. =) The most important thing is that sushi always has to be fresh, if it doesn't, it makes me gag. URGH.

If you want to experience one-of-a-kind rolls, then Tomo is the place for you. I have tried two rolls: "Toronto in Paradise" and "Baked Scallop/Mushroom" roll. Toronto in Paradise, to my surprise, it's actually wrapped in cucumber and not rice so, it is not that filling. This dish is more like art then food to me, it looked so good, that I didn't want to ruin it. The baked scallop/mushroom roll melted in my mouth and it was the kind of roll that I just shoved in my mouth all at once haha! On a side note, I would not recommend the soup they have there: lobster soup, clear soup, wonton soup OR miso soup. I tried the lobster soup because I am a huge fan of lobsters but boy-oh-boy, I felt hustled for a $5 soup. The lobster soup was basically miso soup but with ONE delicate piece of lobster. Nothing special about that I would say.

Overall, I enjoyed eating there, the environment was nice and the waitresses would once in a while, come over and ask us if "everything was okay" & also pour us tea. That's what I call service. The price is a bit more expensive than other restuarants in Richmond Hill, I would say, the price Tomo charge is about the same as other sushi restaurants that can be found in Downtown, Toronto. Was it worth it? Not entirely.

service || good

food || good and fresh

price || $15-25 per person

decor || nice but not revolutionary

what I ordered || toronto in paradise, sashimi dinner, baked scallop/mushroom roll, lobster soup

nadège patisserie || looks can be deceiving

780 Queen St W, Toronto, On
http://www.nadege-patisserie.com/

So this is my first food review ever. I have been discussing this idea of reviewing food for almost 1 or 2 years with my boyfriend but it never happened. We've been eating everywhere from Toronto to Montreal to even, the United States and I have been missing out the opportunity to review some of the best restaurants we have ever been to. I will be travelling to Asia soon so, it only makes sense if I start it NOW.

My first review is on nadège patisserie, a sit-in bakery with varieties of sandwiches and decent-looking desserts. Once I walked in, I felt the place was very clean and organized - sandwiches and baked goods were on the right side of the display and desserts were on the very left. Even though there was a line-up, the wait was not too long. Quite frankly, the daily sandwich I ordered was to DIE FOR. It was DELICIOUS. The combination of salami, lettuce, tomato and black olive is a brilliant idea, it didn't need any salad dressing or special sauce to make it taste good. I really wanted to order another one. Here comes the "BUT" part: BUT the desserts were disappointing, they looked terribly good on the display but once I ordered my "raspberry tart", I knew "looks can be deceiving" could be applied to nadège's desserts. The tart was ROCK HARD. I'm no pastry expert but this tart did not meet my expectations. At $8 a piece, I was hoping for something extraordinary.

It is always important to also comment on the service. When my boyfriend and I decided to get up and order desserts right after our lovely sandwiches, we told one of the waitresses there to keep our drinks on the table because we weren't finish with them and she noted. Right after we finished making our orders, we went back to the table and our drinks were GONE. My boyfriend glanced at the manager and he could tell that she was going to be in trouble because she was the one who took our drinks away. With knowing that, she acted so unprofessional and did not even bother to come to our table and ask if she could help us replace our drinks. I did not even consider asking for any replacements because the drinks were not that good anyways. The manager was indeed unprofressional and clumsy. I guess with services, it's always a hit and miss. =T

P.S. I still have problems pronouncing "sandwiches" as "sangwiches". LOL.

service || friendly but clumsy
